Schilling Gets 38 Percent of Vote for Baseball Hall of Fame

No one, including Medfield's Curt Schilling, was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this year.

No one will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this year. Not one of the several candidates eligible to be inducted into the Cooperstown institution earned enough votes, including Medfield's Curt Schilling. The Boston Herald reports the star pitcher, who took the Boston Red Sox to the World Series in 2004 and 2007, is okay with that. The Herald quoted Schilling on ESPN (where he is a baseball analyst) as saying on Wednesday, “If there was ever a ballot and a year to make a statement about what we didn’t do as players, which is we didn’t actively push to get the game clean, this is it.”   Schilling was referring to the use of steroids by some baseball players, including some on the list of Hall of Fame nominees. Poll: Favorite Spring Sport in Medfield

From baseball to lacrosse, we want to know your favorite spring sport to watch at Medfield High School. The MHS spring sports seasons begin Thursday with boys' volleyball in action against St. John's Prep.

Medfield High School fields nine varsity athletic programs in the spring season, filling the campus with two months of sports action. We want to know which is your favorite. After successful winter seasons by each MHS program, student athletes and coaches are turning their attention to the next season, which officially opens Thursday, March 29 with the boys' volleyball team traveling to Danvers to face St. John's Prep at 6 p.m. Teams started practicing on March 19 and many will open their seasons next week. In advance of the spring season, we want to know which sport you're looking forward to most this spring at MHS. So Medfield, we want to know ... Now that the Medfield High School spring sports seasons are officially over, it is time to reflect back and share your favorite moments with the Medfield Patch community.

UPDATED: Medfield Shocks Norton in 2-1 Walk-Off Victory in State Tournament

Medfield senior Pat Lenihan's two-run single in the bottom of the seventh beats Norton in MIAA Division 3 South Sectional State Tournament.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning and its season on the line, Medfield rallied for two runs to walk off with a 2-1 victory over defending state champion Norton in the MIAA Division 3 South Sectional State Tournament Saturday. “[We have] a flare for the dramatic,” said Medfield head coach Matt Marenghi. “We’ve won all the close ball games this year and I’m just glad we kept doing it. Speaks to the character of this team.” Warriors’ outfielder Pat Lenihan delivered the big hit off Norton ace, A.J. Medfield Girls' Track Places 10th in MIAA D3 Eastern Championships

Medfield boys' track placed 22nd; Girls' lacrosse opens state tournament play Tuesday at home and baseball learned its seeding in the MIAA state tournament.

The Medfield High School girls' track team placed 10th out of 32 schools competing in Friday's 2011 Eastern Massachusetts Division 3 Outdoor Track Championships on May 27.  Schools competed in 18 events and Bishop Feehan of Attleboro won the meet with 97 points. Medfield finished with 22 to earn the top 10 finish.
