Medfield Chief of Police Robert E. Meaney Jr. presented Medfield's traffic statistics over a three-year span (January to August, 2009-2011) to the Board of Selectmen at Tuesday's meeting.
Medfield traffic statistics showed dramatic changes in citations issued and regular arrests over a three-year span (2009-2011), according to Medfield Chief of Police Robert E. Meaney Jr. Citations in 2011 from January to August have dropped 41 percent (395) after rising 217 percent (676) in 2010 from the 213 citations issued in 2009. Meaney said the likely reason for the spike in 2010 and decline in 2011 is the amount of funds used in the department’s personnel budget for traffic enforcement. “I returned very little of my personnel budget to the Town in June of 2010 because I had hired and assigned officers specifically to perform traffic enforcement in fiscal year 2010,” Meaney told the Board of Selectmen at Tuesday’s meeting. “In June of…

Charges were dropped on Sept. 28 after two Medfield teens appeared in court after being arrested on multiple charges on July 28 after allegedly entering a resident’s garage on Hearthstone Drive, according to police reports.
UPDATED on Oct. 4: Charges were dropped for the two teens arrested after allegedly entering a garage on Hearthstone Drive on July 28th, according to Medfield Chief of Police Robert Meaney Jr. "The charges were withdrawn by the court [Sept. 30]," Meaney said. The teens appeared in Dedham District Court on Sept. 28. As a result of the court's decision, the names of these individuals were removed from this article. A Norfolk man was arrested and charged with drug possession of Class B substance and drug distribution of Class B substance during a motor vehicle stop in Medfield on Saturday, May 14, according to Medfield police. Cherlynn C. Corbett, 23, of 377 Main St. was arrested and charged with larceny of over $250 Wednesday afternoon, according to Medfield police. At 12:10 p.m. the Medfield Police Department received a call from a man who reported he was robbed. The man came into the station to speak with officer James O'Neil and Detective Geary. At 1:15 p.m. Corbett was brought into station and spoke with Detective Geary. Bail was set at 4:31 p.m. bail was set for $40 and at 5:11 p.m. Corbett was bailed out and released. Medfield Police arrest two, issue summons to two others this past Saturday and Sunday.
A motor vehicle stop at 1:18 a.m. near Harding Street Saturday resulted in the arrest of a Needham man on multiple charges, according to police logs. Matthew Pruneau, 20, of 54 Horace St. in Needham had a warrant out for his arrest for receiving stolen property and was charged with Class D drug possession. Bail was set at $140.
