The Medfield American Legion Hall, Beckwith Post 110 will be hosting a St. Patrick's Day Spring Jam Saturday to help support the Medfield American Legion baseball team.

The Medfield American Legion Baseball program is celebrating St. Patrick's Day in style on Saturday with a Spring Jam, featuring live music and a variety of great food. The event will be held at the Beckwith Post 110 American Legion Hall on Peter Kristoff Way at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and will feature music by Teddy Larkin's Second Hand Smoke band with special guest Dylan Larkin. This is the first of what the program hopes will become an annual event. "Everyone is Irish for a day, so wear some green and get ready for an evening of live rock, blues and country music" from Larkin's band and Colorchannel, another local group of musicians, according to an announcement issued by the Medfield American Legion baseball team. Post 110 lost to Walpole, 13-4, Tuesday in seven innings (darkness), falling to 10-5 this season.
Not much went the way of the Medfield American Legion baseball team in a 13-4, seven-inning loss to Walpole Tuesday at Curt Schilling Field in Medfield. Medfield head coach James Lagos described Tuesday's game as "cruel" to his club as Post 110 could not catch a break against District 6 leader Walpole. “I was telling these guys earlier how baseball is such a cruel, cruel game,” Lagos said. “Our third baseman T.J. Valente hit the snot out of the ball but he hit it right at the guy every single time, great play here, great play there. Baseball is a cruel sport.” While Medfield wasn’t finding much fortune on the diamond, Walpole was benefiting from the ball rolling in its favor. It is an important week of baseball for the Medfield Post 110 American Legion team. Post 110 Beckwith currently sits in third place of the District 6 Massachusetts American Legion Baseball Standings behind first-place Walpole and second-place Norwood. Beckwith Post 110 hosts both teams this week in critical District 6 games as Medfield plays for postseason positioning. Medfield enters Tuesday's game with a 10-4 record, good for 20 points in the division but sits four points behind Walpole (12-2) for the lead in the West. Medfield American Legion Post 110 needed strong pitching and defense in the bottom of the seventh Tuesday to prevent a Norfolk come back and secure a 7-5 District 6 victory. Medfield got both as closer Walker Littlebale shut the door on Norfolk thanks to two key defensive plays in the final inning. Norfolk's Alex lagos ripped a double to left field to start the inning – and the comeback bid. But Littlebale forced Norfolk's Tyler Campo to ground back to the mound and an alert Littlebale threw to third to erase the lead runner. Norfolk's Nick Ahearn then hit another shot back to the pitcher, who turned a game-ending double play. Medfield Post 110 beat Needham and Norfolk to open 2011 American Legion baseball season.
The Medfield Post 110 American Legion Baseball team opened its 2011 season on Friday, June 10, beating Needham 13-3 at Needham High School. Two days later, Medfield was back on the diamond and defeated Norfolk, 9-4 to get an early jump atop the standings with two wins equalling four points. Medfield's games against Brookline (June 9) and Canton (June 11) were postponed due to rain. Post 110 returns to action Tuesday when it travels to Westwood for a 5:45 p.m. game.
