It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994 and has been used in two major motion pictures as a filming location: Shutter Island and The Box. The town of Medfield continues to discuss re-development plans for the site. It is currently open for passive recreation from 6am - 6pm, daily.

The kindergarten and first grade program is held at Memorial school on North Street. Second and third grade meets at Wheelock Elementary (pictured); Grades 4 - 5 meet at Dale Street and grades 6 - 8 meet at Blake Middle School on Pound Street. The goal of the program is to give kids a safe environment for them to spend free time after school. Instructors strive to meet the needs of each individual child for relaxation, quiet time, an environment for homework and a supportive atmosphere. Currently more than 300 students are enrolled in the various programs.
