'Route 109' to Rock Medfield Legion Hall for Charity on March 2

The local cover band, Route 109, will perform at the Medfield Legion Hall on March 2 for the fourth annual Winter Blues Charity Concert to benefit Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA).

For the past three winters, Medfield residents Larry Kramer and Andy Spencer have organized and performed the Winter Blues Charity Concert at the Medfield Legion, raising $20,000 for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA).

This year is no different, as the local cover band, "Route 109," will take the stage at Medfield's American Legion Hall on Friday, March 2nd to provide a cure for the Winter Blues with an event that gives audience members a chance to dance to live music, support a great cause, catch up with friends and neighbors and take a chance at dozens of Boston sports tickets and other raffle prizes.

Kramer (vocals, guitar) and Spencer (bass, vocals) are behind the cover band “Route 109,” which also consists of Medfield resident Pete Buonora (guitar, vocals), Ashland’s Sean Keaveny (drums), and Stefano Bellezza (guitar, keys, vocals) of Roslindale.

The band has had several iterations and even more names since forming five years ago, but its dedication to fun music and charity events has remained its staple over the years. Band fundraisers have raised over $27,000 for CCFA and Medfield Coalition for Public Education.

Last July, the band sizzled Medfield’s MEMO Summer Concert series despite record temperatures. Route 109 plays classic rock to modern covers, and its parodies "Sweet Home Massachusetts" and "Suburban Paradise" were viral hits on YouTube, and were also featured on the Boston.com website.

“The last three Winter Blues and the town’s Summer Concert Series were memorable and entertaining -we look forward to putting on another great show," Kramer said. "I’m very grateful to my band mates and our audiences
for the support of CCFA, as these diseases affect two of my three school-aged daughters daily. "It’s always a fun show, and it’s great to see so many people helping this cause, which continues to raise funds for important research to help the 1.5 million people in the US impacted by Crohn’s and colitis.”

The show starts at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 2nd at the American Legion Hall on Peter Kristof Way in Medfield. A dollar raffle will be held for multiple Red Sox and Bruins tickets, as well as many restaurant and shopping gift cards. Appetizers, snacks, and desserts will be provided, along with the Legion’s
legendary cash bar.

Tax-deductible tickets are $20, available from band members and at e.
