Pet of the Week: Meet 'Phoebe'

Phoebe is currently available for adoption at the Medfield Animal Shelter.

Phoebe came to the Medfield Animal Shelter from the town's Animal Control officer, who found her as a stray.

According to the shelter, Phoebe has definitely not received the best of care, because she was only 14 pounds when she arrived at the shelter and her ribs were showing.

She also had sores on both sides of her rear legs and a calloused tail, all signs she may have been kept in a small cage or where she could not move adequately. After only two weeks in the Medfield Shelter's care, she weighs 19 pounds and is full of life.

"Her coat has a shine, her eyes are bright and the fur on her ears is coming back in where it had fallen out," the shelter said. "She is scared in the car if she is not held and loud noises can make her cower but as the days go by she has learned to trust our volunteers and understand they would never let any harm come to her."

The shelter says she loves squeaky toys and a soft bed where she can spend hours curled up in a fleece blanket playing with her toys. She is also very good on a leash and walks right by your side.

Phoebe was spayed on Oct. 18th and is ready for a new home. She is approximately three or four years old and is very cute, sweet, loving and playful.  She looks and acts like a puppy and has a really nice temperament. She is very cuddly and loves belly rubs.  She is good with other dogs and seems to enjoy their company.

Call the shelter at (508) 359-8989 if you are interested in adopting her, or send an e-mail to info@medfieldshelter.com.
