Medfield Scouting for School Supplies

Editor's note: The following press release was submitted for publication by Lisa Predella, publicity contact for Medfield Scouts.

Shocked to learn the average age of a homeless person in Massachusetts is eight years old, members of Medfield Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts are teaming up to help these kids get a better start to their upcoming school year.

Through a collaborative service project called “Scouting for School Supplies,”’ the Medfield Scouting community will collect donations and provide backpacks filled with school supplies and books to some of the thousands of homeless children living in Massachusetts.

While each Scout troop, den or pack hopes to sponsor at least one backpack, they need donations from the Medfield community to fill these backpacks with new books (all ages), zipper pencil pouches, glue sticks, scribble pads, colored paper, laminated folders, educational workbooks, flashcards, flash drives and student dictionaries for 5 to 12 grades. Or, you can donate gift cards, SCRIP or cash and Girl Scout Troop 74900 will purchase the items for you.
