Medfield Girls Donate Valentine's Day Money to Animal Shelter

Sisters decide to give their holiday money to the animal shelter because they both "want to help animals" and because "animals need a home."

If Valentine’s Day is meant for people to show love and sweetness, then Quinn and Payton Maley take the cake – and a dog bone or two, too.

Quinn, 4 ½ years old, and her sister Payton, 2 ½ years old, each received $5 for Valentine’s Day this year and their parents, Erin and George Maley, say the girls knew right away that they wanted to donate it to the Medfield Animal Shelter.

“They know about the shelter because we have supported them before, they love animals, and they came up with it on their own,” said their father, noting the family visits the shelter a few times a year.

Their parents said, “Their gift has everything we want to teach as parents: Selfless generosity, supporting those who in many cases can't support themselves, and the realization that our girls have been fortunate to have so much in life that someone else could use their help and support.”

The Maleys said they were glad to help the Medfield Animal Shelter which does “so much with so little,” and relies on the generosity of others to continue its mission.
