Medfield Girl Scout Service Blooms at Tilden Village

Editor's note: The following was submitted by the Medfield Girl Scouts.

To help the residents of enjoy the beauty of spring, three Medfield Girl Scout Cadettes are creating an outdoor garden in the open area near the village community center and they’re planting bulbs at the entrance to each apartment.

The seventh grade girls, Hayley, Julie and Megan, chose to beautify Tilden Village to earn their Silver Award – the highest honor a Girl Scout Cadette can achieve.

The project has been well received, and clearly touched the hearts of the Tilden Village community. As one resident commented, “thank you for your service and interest in our community. We appreciate your efforts to make our village such a beautiful oasis.”

Now, to bring the Tilden Village garden to life, the girls are asking for plant donations from Medfield residents. Based on their well-crafted plan for the garden, the girls would welcome donation of the following plants: black-eyed susans, stella d’oro daylillies, white shasta daisies, sedum autumn joy, balloon flowers, blue Speedwell, white astilbe, blue hosta and white and green variegated hosta.

If you can donate any of these plants, the girls would be happy to help dig or pick them up at your house. To support the Tilden Village garden project, please contact the girls at MHJSilver@gmail.com if you have plants, bulbs or would like to make a monetary donation. The girls will collect plant and money donations from May 1 through June 1.
