Medfield Afterschool Program Receives $5K 'Gift' from Dedham Savings

Money will be used to fix a leaking roof at one of MAP's sites and other "overdue repairs."

Editor's note: The following press release was submitted by Dedham Institution of Savings Foundation.

The Dedham Institution for Savings Foundation is contributing $5,000 to the Medfield Afterschool Program, helping the non-profit fix a leaking roof at one site, leaking walls at another, and other overdue repairs to its four Medfield locations.

“This is an enormously generous gift and shows a real dedication to the people, and particularly the children, of Medfield from the Dedham Institution for Savings,” said David Traub, father of MAP first-grader Brigid Traub and a member of the MAP’s Quest capital campaign committee. “This year, 275 Medfield families are part of MAP and hundreds more who will have their children in MAP in the coming years, and each of those families will benefit from Dedham Savings’ generosity.”

Traub noted that Dedham Institution for Savings Foundation had a history of helping other Medfield organizations, including a past $4,000 gift to the Council on Aging.

“With a few months left in the campaign, we have raised more than 62 percent of our $100,000 target without having to look at increasing tuition,” said Jean Mineo, member of the Quest capital campaign committee, who is also a past president of the non-profit and chair of the campaign. “A donation of this size makes a great impact on our organization and on all of the children who use it. We cannot thank Dedham Savings enough. This is great corporate citizenship.”
