Lemonade Stand This Week to Benefit Animal Shelter [PHOTOS] -- UPDATE

Beginning Years Childhood Development Center is holding its annual lemonade stand this year.

UPDATE: 8/16/12 at 12:45pm -- Today was the final day of this year's lemonade stand.  In total, the 18th annual lemonade stand raised $453 for the Medfield Animal Shelter. Sweet! Good job, boys and girls!

ORIGINAL STORY, 8/14/12:  This is the 18th annual lemonade stand for the Beginning Years Childhood Development Center.

The refreshing stand started on Monday and will continue for the rest of this week: Tuesday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and Friday from 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Lemonade is 50 cents a cup at the corner of North and Frairy Streets and is served by gracious hosts. 

On Monday, the stand was tended by Trevor, age 3, Eliza, age 4 1/2, and Maya, age 5 1/2.

There was a steady stream of customers as the children waved their handmade signs to pull in traffic.

Teacher Holly Thurston said the children typically raise $200 for each chosen charity.  This year the children chose the Medfield Animal Shelter.

"A lot of people are excited that the children are doing this," said preschool teacher Holly Thurston.  "They're learning about money and doing a job and working together."
