April Vacation Programs and Spring Sports Registrations at Parks & Recreation

Registration is now being taken for April vacation programs and spring sports.

The following is a press release submitted by Medfield Parks & Recreation.

As the warmer weather finally starts to trickle into the daily forecast, ushering out one of the longer winters in recent memory, the Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for some spring programs, including during April Vacation week. Registration for all these programs is available at the Parks & Recreation website

When the kids are out of school this month, Parks & Recreation will be running three programs to keep the kids active and engaged while away from school.

  • Tuesday, April 16 -- The group will take off to Patriot Place, where they will walk around the outdoor mall, grab lunch at Five Guys Burgers and take in a movie.
  • Wednesday, April 17 -- It is off to CoCo Key indoor water park in Fitchburg where kids will get a chance to go down slides, play water basketball or glide in the lazy river.
  • Thursday, April 18 -- The program will be off to the newest craze, Launch Trampoline Park in Warwick, RI. Co-owned by former New England Patriots All-Pro Ty Law, kids will get a chance to bounce around this trampoline park and enjoy a game of dodgeball as well as a slice of pizza for lunch. A waiver will need to be signed by a parent for your child to attend this trip. We will have the waiver available at drop off.

The program will not run on Monday, April 15, Patriot's Day.

Another option, for ages 6 to 12, will be a half day multi-sports program in conjunction with John Smith Sports. The program will take place at McCarthy Park from 9am to 1pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (April 16-18), and participants will take part in a number of sports, from soccer and flag football to kickball and turf hockey.

If you are looking for a sports specific program during the vacation week, Parks & Recreation, in conjunction with the varsity baseball team at the high school, will offer a baseball skills and drills program. Taking place at the ball fields at McCarthy Park, kids ages 8 to 12 will be put through drills led by head coach Matt Marenghi and members of the baseball team. This program will take place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, April 17-19.

Spring Sports

Along with the warmer weather comes time to register for the spring sports with Parks & Recreation.

The Pre-K and Kinder Soccer leagues will start on Saturday, April 27, with all games taking place at the multi-purpose fields at McCarthy Park on Hospital Road. Registration is still ongoing for both leagues, with the deadline set for April 22 to give time to set the rosters and form a season schedule.

The following week, the Kinder T-Ball program will start, playing on Thursday afternoons beginning May 2 at 5:30pm. Again, all games will be played at the multi-purpose field at McCarthy Park, with a registration deadline of April 26 so that rosters and schedules can be finalized.

Spring Classes and Programs

In addition to these programs, registration for spring classes and programs, from Munchkin Multi Sports to adult fitness classes, is taking place online as well. There are some new programs for the spring session, and many programs are already at, or near, capacity, so check them out now and reserve your space.

Summer Camp Information

Also, Summer Camp information is just about finalized, and updates will be posted on the summer camp pages on the Web site. Registration is open for many of the camps, with new camps, including drama, soccer and science, being added shortly.
