Will Chad Ochocinco Move to Medfield?

Medfield has a history of attracting New England Patriots players and coaches to town. Will Ochocinco be next? He's currently looking for a Patriots fan as a roommate.

Could another prominent professional athlete be moving to Medfield? It’s not out of the realm of possibility.

Newly acquired New England Patriots wide receiver, Chad Ochocinco, told reporters Tuesday that he plans to live with a Patriots fan for the “first couple weeks” of the season, according to ESPNBoston.com reporter Mike Reiss.

Ochocinco, according to Reiss’ article “Chad Ochocinco to stay with a fan,” published Wednesday on ESPNBoston.com, is “going to do something different."

"I'm actually going to stay with a fan for the first two, three weeks of the season," he said Tuesday. "That should be fun, until I get myself acclimated and learn my way around."

Ochocinco told reporters he hasn’t picked a fan yet and that he wasn’t sure how it would work. However, he did list a few requirements.

“I'm not sure how it's going to work, but they have to have Internet. They have to have Xbox," he said. "That's about it.”

If the fan Ochocinco chooses happens to live in Medfield, he would join a list of well-known professional players and coaches to reside in town.

Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling moved to town in 2004 with his family after he was traded from the Arizona Diamondbacks, buying former New England Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe’s home. The Schillings still call Medfield home today.

As for other professional athletes and coaches, there have been nine former New England Patriots to live in town, most recently Randy Moss. Others include:

  • John Hannah
  • Bledsoe
  • Ted Johnson
  • Rick Lyle
  • Pete Carroll (coach)
  • Ryamond Berry (coach)
  • Eric Mangini (coach)

So, if you are looking for a roommate and meet Ochocinco’s requirements, you could make the star receiver the 10th Patriot to live in Medfield.
