Warriors' Dream Season Ends With Championship Win

Medfield High School pushed past Nashoba Regional on Saturday to earn the Division 2 championship.

After taking down the unbeaten consesus No. 1 team in the state in the Division 2 semifinal, there was the possibility of a letdown for the Medfield High School girls basketball team. Then the state championship game started.

The Warriors avoided the potential letdown after an emotional overtime win over Reading, cruising past Nashoba Regional High School, 54-36, on Saturday at the DCU Center in Worcester during the state championship game.

Medfield loses just three seniors from this year's title winning team. Jennifer Narlee, Alisa Gold and Katelyn Noschese will graduate from the state champions' roster.

Saturday's game was never in doubt from the start. Medfield pulled ahead early and never looked back, capping a dream season with a blowout win.

"You can see how excited they are," said Medfield head coach Mark Nickerson. "I felt that (a championship) has been a realistic goal for the last few years. This was a great year for us to do it ... It's been really important for us to take this step and win this championship now. You have to take the opportunity when it arises."
