The Warriors were able to dominate . On Wednesday, Medfield was back at it on offense, creating chance after chance and outshooting Old Rochester, 39-7 enroute to a 2-0 victory.

Medfield’s first chance came less than four minutes into the match when junior forward Katelyn Murray’s shot rang off the crossbar. Nearly 27 minutes later and still no score, Murray found the back of the net with a perfectly placed shot from about 10 yards out to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.

That score held until midway through the second half, when sophomore forward Kristina Gustafson converted on a crossing pass from fellow sophomore forward Cami McCurdy to put the Warriors up 2-0.

With the two-goal lead, the defense tightened up and preserved the shutout.

Medfield, the second seed in the bracket and unbeaten in 20 matches this season, will face third seed Canton (16-1-2), who has outscored its opponents, 13-0 in two state tournament games this year. While Medfield head coach Mike La Francesca knows it only gets harder from here in the state tournament, he is confident in the way his team is playing to this point of the season.

“It is going to be more difficult as we go on,” La Francesca said. “There’s great teams that are still out there but I think if we just continue to take it one game at a time an focus on who our opponents are then we will hopefully do what we need to do to put it away.”
