The Medfield High School boys' basketball team wasted little time setting the tone in Tuesday's 59-44 victory over defending Tri-Valley League champion Hopkinton – racing out to an 18-7 lead in the first quarter and a 34-13 advantage at halftime.
Drew Shea led the Warriors with 20 points and Sam Tawa added 13. Johnny McCarthy netted nine and Bobby Hunter scored six. Hopkinton was led by Ryan Hamilton (23 points).
Medfield needs three victories to qualify for the state tournament and will host rival Dover-Sherborn Friday at 6:30 p.m. The Warrirors edged D-S, 47-46 on Dec. 20. Hopkinton falls to 6-5 in the TVL this season as Medfield ended the Hillers' five-game winning streak Tuesday.
