FRANKLIN – The boys' hockey team knocked off Tri-Valley League rival Westwood Wednesday, 3-1, to sweep the season series with the Wolverines.

That lead held up through a scoreless second period that saw Westwood gain momentum from a strong penalty kill and a lackluster Medfield power play. The Warriors went 0-for-3 on the power play in the period and Westwood created two shorthanded scoring chances on the penalty kill. Medfield goaltender Conor Roddy rose to the occasion on the shorthanded bids, making a toe-save on one bid with under two minutes and getting some help by the iron as Westwood hit the post on another.

Medfield regained some momentum in the third period and extended its lead on Etzkorn's second of the game with 6:51 to play, making it 2-0 Warriors. Westwood responded with a goal from Brendan Dalton with 1:48 remaining in the period, cutting Medfield's lead to 2-1, but Ben Cox netted an empty netter with 38.4 seconds to put the game away, 3-1.
