The Medfield High School boys' basketball team carried over momentum from into Friday's game with rival Dover-Sherborn – beating the Raiders, 66-46 to improve to 9-5 this season and 8-4 in the Tri-Valley League.
Medfield led 38-21 at halftime, holding D-S to only 11 points in the first quarter and 10 points in the second, while the Warriors raced out to a 20-point first quarter.
D-S rallied in the second half, hitting its first four shots, all three-pointers. The Raiders had five field goals in the third quarter, all threes, which cut the Medfield lead down to four points but Medfield withstood the barrage of shots from beyond the arc with a strong effort by senior captain and forward Sam Tawa.
Despite a strong effort by D-S, the Warriors were able to increase their lead to as many as 20 points and take the win from their TVL rivals.
Medfield had a balanced attack on offense with four players scoring in double-digits, led by junior guard Johnny McCarthy.
The Raiders are now 6-8 on the season while Medfield increased their record to 9-5 on the year. Medfield has won five of its last six games and returns to the court Tuesday when it travels to Medway for a 6:30 p.m. game.
