Tourney Bound: Medfield Boys' Hoops Clinch Postseason Berth

The Warriors defeated Millis, 60-47 on Senior Night Tuesday, earning their 10th win of the season and clinching a spot in the Division II state tournament; Medfield girls' beat Millis by 39.

The Medfield High School boys' basketball team is headed to the state tournament. 

The Warriors punched their ticket to high school basketball's second season Tuesday with a 60-47 victory over visiting Millis on Senior Night.

"Huge win because it gets us into the tourney," Medfield head coach Herb Grace said of Tuesday's victory.

Medfield entered the week needing two wins in three of its remaining games and got them on back-to-back nights, beating Holliston Monday and Millis Tuesday. The Warriors honored their four seniors before the game: guard Ben Coutinho, guard Jake Bankert, guard Elliot Nolan and forward/center Sam Aronson. 

Drew Shea led Medfield with 26 points and Johnny McCarthy added 10. The Warriors will be in Norton Friday to close out the regular season. Watch the video above for highlights of Tuesday's game.

Girls' Basketball Picks Up 58-19 Victory In Millis

Medfield improved to 17-0 in the Tri-Valley league with a 39-point victory over Millis Tuesday.

Hillary Collins led all Warriors' scorers with 13-points and Jen Narlee added 10 points. Medfield had 10 players score and got solid production from Delaney Lawson (six points), Kate Thomas (six points) and Kristin Fechtelkotter (five points). 

"Our girls played very well tonight, in a total team effort," said Medfield coach Mark Nickerson. "The girls have really started to come together as a team with all players contributing. I am proud of what we have accomplished so far. We are certainly looking toward much greater goals as we head into the postseason.  We have checked off the TVL title, hopefully we can check off an undefeated TVL season after Friday night and we will set our sights on our next goal, which is winning the Walpole Tournament."

The Warriors will be in Norton Friday before playing in the Walpole Tournament over February vacation.
