Sports Roundup: Medfield Football Picks up First Win of Season in Ashland

Here's look at how the Medfield High School sports team fared Friday night.

ASHLAND – Medfield's Erik Ormberg recorded his first win Friday night as his Warriors' football team defeated Ashland, 45-6.

Medfield (1-2, 0-0) scored 19 first-quarter points and led 35-0 at halftime. Warriors' running back Sam Tawa had two scores, including a 60-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Tawa's teammate, Brian D'Amore, added three touchdowns in the route.

The Warriors scored three touchdowns in the first quarter: Tawa's 60-yard run, quarterback Alex Opiela's 23-yard run and D'Amore's 19-yard. In the second quarter, Tawa scored on a 23-yard run, the Medfield defense recorded a safety and D'Amore added a four-yard rushing score. In the third quarter, D'Amore scored his third touchdown of the game on a 28-yard run and in the fourth, Tom Sears scored on a 37-yard run.

Ashland's lone score came in the fourth quarter on a 15-yard pass from Colin Daly to Brayden Haney.

Medfield opens its league play against Holliston on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. on the MHS turf.
