The Medfield High School girls' basketball team scored over 60 points for the third time in four games Tuesday, but it was the Warriors' defense that keyed a 69-22 victory over rival Dover-Sherborn.
"We played outstanding team defense and Jen [Narlee] is really the center piece of
that," said Medfield head coach Mark Nickerson. "This was a good win for us and a good building block as we move forward."
Medfield won its fourth straight game (third in the Tri-Valley League) to open the season unbeaten. Narlee led the Warriors with a strong overall game, netting a game-high 16 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
"I am always impressed with Jen's defense," Nickerson said. "She finds a way to get her hands on the ball and either get steals or deflections. Tonight was no different."
Kristin Fechtelkotter added 14 points and Kate Thomas 10 for Medfield. Dover-Sherborn's top scorer was Abby Greene with six points.
Medfield (4-0, 3-0) travels to Medway for a TVL game on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Dover-Sherborn travels to Bellingham for a 6:30 p.m. game Thursday.
