PHOTOS: Medfield Cross Country Teams Place Second in TVL Championships

The Medfield High School boys' cross country team finished second behind Westwood and the girls' placed second behind Dover-Sherborn at Wednesday's TVL Championships.

Running on their home course, the Medfield High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams placed second in Wednesday’s Tri-Valley League Championships as each team fielded seven runners.

In a field of eight teams and 55 runners, the Medfield boys' finished only behind Westwood, a team that handed the Warriors their only loss this season.

The Wolverines took first, third, sixth and 10th place to secure the TVL title. Westwood’s Bobby McLaughlin led the field with a time of 16:54, 13 seconds better than Medfield’s Jack Moses, who placed second in the meet. The Warriors took second, fifth, eighth and ninth in the top 10. Medfield was able to finish second despite a less than 100 percent Ian Robertson (illness), who placed fifth.

The Medfield girls’ placed four of their seven runners in the top 20, including a five, six, seven finish that secured second place behind TVL champions, Dover-Sherborn. The Raiders’ Lee Milne finished first overall with a time of 19:42 and teammate Olivia Cannon placed third at 20:30 to lead D-S. With the win, the Raiders avenged a 29-30 defeat to Medfield Sept. 12 on the same course. The Warriors were led by Taylor Worthy, who placed fifth with a time of 20:57, Sally Todd, placing sixth with a time of 21:00 and Ashley Campisano, finishing seventh, three seconds behind Todd.
