Medfield V. Millis-Hopedale Scrimmage on Friday to Benefit Taylor Sack Foundation

The scrimmage will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Millis High School.

A fundraising scrimmage game will be held Friday in Milis, pitting Medfield against Millis-Hopedale in a friendly game intended to raise funds for the Taylor Sack Foundation.

In a joint statement, the coaches of both teams said the scrimmage will be free of charge, but that volunteers would be working the concession stands and selling tickets to help raise funds for the Taylor Sack Foundation.

"Earlier this year Taylor suffered a brutal fall while skiing," wrote coaches Erik Ormberg and Dale Olmsted. "He had to have surgery and is now paralyzed from the waist down. One of Millis-Hopedale’s elected captains for the 2013 football season, Taylor has not deviated from leading his team. He has been a true inspiration to those in Millis, Hopedale, Medfield and beyond."

According to the note, with the new playoff system in place, Medfield and Millis-Hopedale will not be playing during the season. Both coaches recognize the strong bond that exists between the towns and football programs. "We plan to sustain the mutual respect for each program by making this scrimmage an annual event for years to come."

The scrimmage is at 6 p.m. Friday at Millis High School on Route 115 at 245 Plain St.
