Medfield Tennis Teams Advance to Semi-Finals in MIAA South Sectional State Tournaments

Medfield girls' tennis defeats Hingham, 3-2 in Monday's quarterfinal round; Medfield boys' tennis defeats Duxubry, 3-2 in quarterfinal round.

The Medfield High School girls' tennis team advanced to the MIAA Division 2 South Sectional State Tournament semi-finals after Monday's 3-2 victory over Hingham. 

The Warriors will face Foxboro on Wednesday, June 8 in the semi-final round of the sectional tournament. Medfield will host Foxboro at a time not yet announced by the MIAA. 

On Monday, Medfield (22-0) broke a 2-2 tie with Hingham thanks to the play of Julia Basiliere and Megan Tschirch in second doubles, defeating Hingham's Kristen Ferrucci and Casey Sullivan, 6-2, 6-2 to earn the 3-2 team victory and advance.

Other Medfield winners on Monday: Alex Freeman defeated Katherine Ripple, 6-2, 6-1 in first singles; Kate Goldense and Hunter Stahl defeated Madi Lund and Nikki Lund, 6-1, 6-4 in first doubles. 

"With the overall team match tied at 2 all, Julia Basiliere and Megan Tschirch played a great match at No. 2 doubles," said Medfield head coach Chris DuBose. "Serving service winners and putting away a dozen volleys."

Boys' Tennis Beats Duxbury

The Medfield High School boys' tennis team (17-2) defeated Duxbury (15-4), 3-2 Monday to advance to Wednesday's semi-final round against top seed Sharon in the MIAA Division 2 South Sectional State Tournament. 

Wednesday's game will be played in Sharon at 3:45 p.m.
