Medfield Softball Earns First TVL Win of Season

Warriors romp Millis, 16-1 in six innings Monday.

Medfield High School softball freshman Dannielle Vaclavik went 4-for-4 with a triple and senior captain and pitcher Julia Biedrzycki tossed five solid innings, striking out six and allowing just one run in a 16-1 victory over Millis Monday.

The game was called in the sixth inning by way of the Mercy Rule and the Warriors earned their first Tri-Valley League victory of the season.

"We hit the ball well," said Medfield head coach Sue Pratt. "We are getting better, game by game. We are getting our game experience in season. We are getting a little bit better with each game and that's all we can ask for. That was our first TVL win.

Medfield head coach Tom Woods said Norton was just too much on the field side of track and field and despite a strong effort from Medfield on the track, it was too little, too late in a Tri-Valley League defeat Monday.

"Norton just came out swinging," said MHS boys' track coach Tom Woods. "They took 26 out of 27 points in the throws. On the track we saw a lot of season bests and fast times but it wasn't enough to overcome the hole we got into."

Medfield is now 3-2 this season and will host Ashland on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
