GIRLS' RANKINGS

DIVISION 1

1. (4) Andover (7-0-2), (North, Merrimack Valley) - What a week for the AHS soccer team. The Golden Warriors knocked off the defending state Champions, defeating Central Catholic 1-0. They followed that up with a tie against Westford and a including three from Gabby Cappello and a dramatic header by Devon Caveney on a corner kick..

2. (3) Newton North (6-0-1), (South, Bay State Conference) – A 1-0 victory over Milton keeps Newton North undefeated.

3. (2) Lincoln-Sudbury (7-0), (North, Dual County) – Another week saw the Warriors rack up three more victories - Acton-Boxborough (2-0),  and Weston (2-0). Eliza Guild and Cassidy Boegel led the scoring charge.

4. (1) Central Catholic (5-1), (North, Merrimack Valley) – The defending state champions suffered its first defeat to Dandover. The girls followed that up by narrowly escaping Methuen, 2-1.

5. (6) Lexington (6-1-1), (North, Middlesex) – Well, that was an impressive week for the Lady Minuteman. With wins against Winchester (3-1) and Arlington (3-1), it looks as those Lexington is the early favorite to win the Middlesex League Title.

6. (Unranked) Weymouth (7-2), (South, Bay State) - The girls , but victories against Needham (3-1) and Brookline (3-1) have the Wildcats positioned comfortably behind Newton North.

7. (10) Peabody (6-0-2), (North, Northeastern) – The Tanners just continue to win. Peabody defeated Marblehead (7-0), Danvers (4-1) and Beverly (3-2) as the remain undefeated.

8. (8) Oliver Ames (5-2), (South, Hockomock) – Suffered its second loss of the season, this time to an impressive Canton squard (3-0).

9. (7) Winchester (5-2-1), (North, Middlesex) – The Lady Sachems managed one goal in their victory over Woburn, before Lexington defeated Winchester, 3-1, earlier this week.

10. (On the bubble) Concord-Carlisle (North, Dual County) - The Patriots  losing to Weston (2-0), but they capped it by defeating last year's North Division 1 Champs, Westford (3-1)

On the Bubble: Dartmouth, Westford, Franklin.

DIVISION 2

1. (1) Medfield (6-0-1), (South, Tri-Valley) –Two more wins, two more shutouts. Last week saw Medfield defeat Westwood (3-0) and Bellingham (5-0). The defending state champions are looking to repeat.

2. (2) Canton (6-0), (South, Hockomock) – Another impressive week and Canton will overtake Medfield for the top spot. Last week was as dominating a week as you'll find. Canton , Oliver Ames (3-0) and Stoughton (6-0).

3. (4) East Bridgewater (8-0), (South, South Shore) – After securing the No. 1 seed in last year’s tournament, East Bridgewater suffered an early exit. East Bridgewater has now won all eight of its games this season and are looking strong after a 3-0 win over Norwell and a 4-1 win over Rockland.

4. (6) Stoneham (5) (4-0-2), (North, Middlesex) – The Spartans continue to find ways to win, this time it was a  on a goal by Ali Kruse that's kept Stoneham undefeated.

5. (3) Belmont (4-2-1), (North, Middlesex) – The defending North Division 2 champions got back on the winning track, defeating Reading (3-0) and Woburn (3-1).

6. (On the bubble) Cardinal Spellman (6-1), (South, Catholic Central) - A touugh 2-1 loss to East Bridgewater is the only blemish on their record.

7. (Unranked) Duxbury, (5-1-1), (South, Patriot) - After losing to Canton 4-3 in the opening game of the season, Duxbury is trying to make it back to the South Division 2 Finals. The team has not loss a game in six straight matches, only tying Hingham 3-3.

8. (10) Wilmington (5-1-2), (North, Middlesex) – The Lady Wildcats have won four in a row and look like they belong in the Middlesex League. They , but with games against Belmont and Winchester coming up, we'll see where Wilmington stands.

9. (5) Dedham (6-1-1), (South, Bay State) – Jena Savi scored the lone goal for the Marauders,  They went on to sneak by Milton, 2-1, later in the week.

10. (On the bubble) Tewksbury (5-0), (North, Merrimack Valley) - The team has only yielded one goal so far this season.

BOYS’ RANKINGS

DIVISION 1

1. (2) Lincoln-Sudbury (6-0-1) (North, Dual County League): Since we last checked in, the Warriors have just gone 3-0 on the road, outscoring opponents 14-2. Combine that effort with a Lexington loss, and you have a new No. 1. The Warriors first took care of Acton-Boxborough 5-2, then Newton South 4-0 and then  – Ryan Bassinger had two goals against Weston. The Warriors will be involved in the Game of the Week when they travel to Concord-Carlisle Saturday for one of the marquee 7:30 p.m. games at the Kick for Cancer event. The Warriors beat Concord-Carlisle, the two-time defending Division 2 state champs, earlier this season, 1-0. After that, they’ll host Westford at 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wayland at 4 p.m. Thursday.

2. (1) Lexington (3-1-2(North, Middlesex League): The Minutemen lost their first regular season game since 2007 – yes, 2007 – Monday, . In their last three contests, the Minutemen have now been tied twice and lost once. They’ll look to get back to their early-season winning ways against Belmont at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kicks for Cancer event in Concord. They’ll host Wakefield at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday and travel to Watertown Thursday for another 3:45 p.m. contest.

3. (3) Weymouth (6-1-1(South, Bay State Conference): Riding a five-game winning streak, the Wildcats were upset by Braintree 1-0 Wednesday. Previously, they  on the road and Brookline 1-0 at home. They’ll face St. John’s Prep in a key game at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Bay State Conference/Catholic Conference Challenge, before hosting Norwood at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday and Framingham at 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

4. (4) St. John’s Prep (4-0-2) (North, Catholic Conference): The Eagles only had one game this past week, and they managed to stay undefeated with a convincing 4-0 win at Malden Catholic. After two ties to start the year, the Eagles have now won four in a row, outscoring opponents 15-1 during that stretch. They hosted Lynnfield yesterday and will play Weymouth at 3 p.m. Saturday in the BSC/CC Challenge in a game with major rankings implications. They’ll be at Central Catholic at 7 p.m. Monday and host Xaverian at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

5. (8) Walpole (6-0-2) (South, Bay State Conference): How did the Rebels make it all the way up to the No. 5 spot? With three shutout victories where they outscored opponents 12-0. Led by a veteran defense, the Rebels have five shutouts on the season and have only allowed one goal in each of their other three games. This past week, they beat Milton 4-0, Dedham 5-0 and Norwood 3-0. They’ll face Malden Catholic at 3 p.m. Saturday in the BSC/CC Challenge and then be at Needham at 7 p.m. Tuesday and host Natick at 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

6. (On the Bubble) Medford (6-0-0) (North, Greater Boston League): Led by the scoring touch of John Dumbuya, the Mustangs are off to a perfect start and have outscored opponents 22-4 so far this season. This past week, they beat Cambridge 4-0 and . They’ll be on the road against Everett at 7 p.m. Friday, Billerica at 3:45 p.m. Monday and Somerville at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

7. (On the Bubble) Silver Lake (5-0-2) (South, Patriot League): The Lakers are off to an undefeated start. This past week, they tied Duxbury 0-0, walloped Middleborough 10-0 and tied Scituate 1-1. In the Middleborough rout, Jake Monroe had a hat-trick. They’ll look to continue their winning ways at Pembroke at 3:30 p.m. Friday, at Quincy at 4 p.m. Tuesday and at home against Hingham at 4 p.m. Thursday.

8. (7) Masconomet (3-0-2) (North, Cape Ann League): This past week, the Chieftains shutout two above-.500 teams – beating Hamilton-Wenham 4-0 on the road and Lynnfield 1-0 at home. Next up, they’ll travel to Rockport Saturday for a 6 p.m. game and then host Georgetown at 6 p.m. Monday and Triton at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.

9. (5) Needham (5-2-1) (South, Bay State Conference): The Rockets went 1-1-1 this past week,,  and tying Newton North 0-0 on the road. Sophomore Harry Swartz had two goals against Braintree, junior Will Corkery and freshman Jason Miller each had one. They’ll host Xaverian at 5 p.m. Saturday in the BSC/CC Challenge, before hosting Walpole at 7 p.m. Tuesday and traveling to Brookline Thursday for a 4 p.m. match.

10. (6) Brookline (4-2-1(North, Bay State Conference): The Warriors split their two games this past week – losing to Weymouth 1-0 and beating Framingham 4-1. With Travis James and Eric Buck leading the way, the Warriors will host Newton North at 3 p.m. Saturday, be at Wellesley at 4 p.m. Tuesday and be back home again against Needham at 4 p.m. Thursday.

DIVISION 2

1. (2) Winchester (5-0-1) (North, Middlesex League): The unbeaten Sachems take over the top spot this week after , a team that hadn’t lost a regular season game since 2007. The Sachems won 2-0 Monday behind goals from Zachary Landau and Jeff Tilley. They also tied Woburn 1-1. They’ll be on the road at Arlington at 6 p.m. Saturday and then host Melrose at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday and Burlington at 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

2. (1) Concord-Carlisle (5-2-0) (North, Dual County League): The two-time defending Division 2 state champs split their two games this past week – beating Weston 5-0 and losing to Westford 4-2. The Patriots will look to avenge an early season 1-0 loss to Lincoln-Sudbury at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at their Kicks for Cancer event. Then, they’ll host Wayland and Bedford on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, both at 3:45 p.m.

3. (3) Canton (5-0-3) (South, Hockomock League): The Bulldogs recorded two shutouts this past week – a 2-0 win over a talented Oliver Ames team and a 4-0 victory at Stoughton. They’ll host Westport at 7 p.m. Saturday, then go on the road to face two above-.500 teams, Attleboro at 3:30 p.m. Monday and Franklin at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

4. (4) Sandwich (6-0-0) (South, Atlantic Coast League): The Blue Knights had no easy task this past week but ended up handing Barnstable and Marshfield their only losses so far this season with 3-0 and 4-2 routs, respectively. They went up against Dennis-Yarmouth yesterday on the road.

5. (5) Hopkinton (6-1-0) (South, Tri-Valley League): It’s hard to fault the Hillers too much for losing 3-0 to Dover-Sherborn, the undefeated defending Division 3 state champs. After that, they beat Medway 3-1 on Tuesday and King Philip 2-0 Wednesday to get back on track. They’ll host Westwood at 3:30 p.m. Friday, be at Ashland at 5 p.m. Monday and then at Dover-Sherborn for a rematch at 6:45 pm. Wednesday.

6. (9) Hingham (6-1-0) (South, Patriot League): The Harbormen had three wins this past week, two of them shutouts – 4-0 at Quincy and a key 1-0 win over Duxbury at home. The Harbormen’s first win was a 3-2 decision against Hanover. They’ll be at Middleborough at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, before an important 4 p.m. game at undefeated Silver Lake Thursday.

7. (6) Duxbury (4-2-1) (South, Patriot League): The Green Dragons are coming off a busy four-game week where they went 2-1-1, beating North Quincy 4-0, tying Silver Lake 1-1, beating Pembroke 3-1 and losing to Hingham 1-0. Earlier in the season, they tied Canton 0-0 and had an impressive 4-0 win against Scituate. They’ll travel to Hanover Tuesday for a 4 p.m. game and Whitman-Hanson Thursday for a 6 p.m. contest.

8. (7) Belmont (2-1-5(North, Middlesex League): Even with star sweeper Paul Connor out with an ankle injury, the Marauders managed ties against , and Burlington, 1-1. They’ll face Lexington at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kicks for Cancer event in Concord, then travel to Wilmington Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game and Melrose Thursday for a 3:45 p.m. contest.

9. (On the Bubble) Woburn (3-1-3(North, Middlesex League): Star striker Valerio Silva and sweeper Bobby Campbell have the Tanners off and running. They tied top-ranked Winchester 1-1 on Saturday and then . Silva, one of the fastest runners in the state come winter and spring, can take over a game all by himself, making the Tanners a dangerous opponent for any team. They’ll face Reading at 5:15 p.m. Saturday at the Kicks for Cancer event in Concord, then host Watertown at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and Stoneham at 7 p.m. Thursday.

10. (8) Norwell (6-1-2) (South, South Shore League): The Clippers continued to impress with a 2-1 win at East Bridgewater, a 4-0 win at Hull and a 1-1 tie at Mashpee. They haven’t lost since falling 3-1 at Scituate in their first game of the season on Sept. 6. They’ll be at Rockland at 4 p.m. Thursday.
