Medfield Girls’ Track Star Stanton Sets Another School Record

Medfield beats Millis, 100-35 on May 9 to improve to 6-1. See how the other Medfield teams performed here.

Medfield High School senior and girls’ track star, Alex Stanton broke a second school record in less than a week on Monday, setting the mark in the 400m with a time of 58.7 seconds. Stanton also set the school’s mark in the 100HH on May 5 against Ashland.

As a team, the Warriors have continued to dominate their competition this spring, posting lopsided victories over Ashland (112-24 on May 5) and 100-35 over Millis on May 9. To this point of the season, the Warriors’ only loss came in their season opener, a 90-46 setback against Tri-Valley League power Hopkinton. Medfield has won six straight meets since that loss to the Hillers and will be back in action on Thursday when they host rival Dover-Sherborn at 3:30 p.m.

Medfield Girls’ Tennis Remains Unbeaten

The Warriors defeated rival Dover-Sherborn, 5-0 Monday to tighten its grip atop the Tri-Valley League standings, improving to 7-0 in league play and 9-0 overall. D-S fell to 5-3 in the TVL.

"Great match from Lexi Nasraway (Medfield's No. 2 singles player), who defeated Sarah Egener, who was playing at the top of her game," said Medfield girls' tennis coach Chris DuBose. "First doubles Kate Goldense and Hunter Stahl defeated a very strong doubles team from D0ver-Sherborn."

Match-by-match results: Medfield's Alex Freeman defeated D-S' Olivia Finnegan, 6-0, 6-0 in first singles; MHS' Lexi Nasraway defeated Sarah Egener, 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 in second singles; Warriors' Hannah Oliphant defeated Eliza Weintraub, 6-0, 6-0 in third singles; Kate Goldense and Hunter Stahl of Medfield defeated Julia Watson and Oivia Tedesco, 6-1, 6-3 in first doubles; Julia Basiliere and Lauren Buscone defeated Natalie Montesano and Maggie Gallagher, 7-6 (7-3), 6-0. 

Boy's Tennis Edges D-S

The Medfield High School boys' tennis team defeated Dover-Sherborn, 3-2 Monday to avenge an earlier loss vs. the Raiders this season. The victory puts Medfield in a first-place tie atop the Tri-Valley League. Medfield winners: Jay Latimer, Kevin Lynch, and Dan Cher in singles.  The Warriors play back-to-back games vs. Medway. Medfield plays the Mustangs at Glen Ellen Country Club in Millis on Tuesday and travels to Medway on Wednesday. 

Boys' Track Cruises Past Ashland on May 5

The Medfield High School boys' track team defeated Ashland 113-24 on May 5, notching its fourth win of the season. The Warriors played Millis on Monday, May 9 and that score and results will be published on Medfield Patch Tuesday. For complete results of the May 5 meet, click on the attached PDFs.  

"Freshman Gordon White had a terrific day in both the 100 and 200 meters, placing second in each," said Medfield coach Tom Woods. "Sophmore Blake Brown also had a terrific race, getting right out to the lead and running alone to a 10:46.7, a great time for not being pushed. Junior Jack Moses did the same in the mile run, taking a commanding lead from the start and never looking back to win in a time of 4:53.9. Senior Danny Fitzgerald also had a big day, winning the High Jump and placing third in the 100m."
