Medfield Boys' Basketball Players Recognized for Successful Season at Team Banquet

The Medfield High School boys' basketball team held its post-season banquet Sunday to look back at a successful season and honor many of its players.

On Sunday, the boys' basketball team recognized the accomplishments of its players, coach and team in a 14-7 season , Medfield's assistant basketball coach who .

Medfield boys' basketball coach Herb Grace shared with Medfield Patch the following accolades that were handed out at Sunday's Big Blue Basketball banquet:

  • Team M.V.P. – Johnny McCarthy
  • "Mr Rebounds" Award- Tommy Conlon
  • Sportsmanship Award - John Pendergast
  • Peter Kennedy Scholarship, given in memory of former Big Blue Player Peter Kennedy – Sam Tawa, Matt Shea
  • Ken Brackett Scholarship, given in memory of our former assistant coach Mr. Ken Brackett – Bobby Hunter, Tommy Conlon

Grace at Medfield in a 57-53 victory over Belmont on Dec. 27.

"Coaching in Medfield is a dream come true for me," Grace said after the milestone win. "I played for 'The Big Blue' and take great pride in our program. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else that's for sure."

The team also announced McCarthy and John Zimmerman will be the Warriors' co-captains next season.

Medfield's in the first round of the MIAA Division 2 South Sectional State Tournament on Feb. 28 but the season, as outlined in Sunday's banquet was one full of teamwork, pride and success.

"It was a great banquet celebrating another fun and successful season," Grace said.
