Late Goals Get Medfield Past Foxboro Girls Soccer

Medfield will play Scituate on Nov. 5.

Up until the 73rd minute, it looked liked #9 Medfield and #8 Foxboro girls soccer were going to need extra time to decide who would advance in their MIAA Division 2 South first round tie.

One minute later, things started to go very well for Medfield and very bad for Foxboro.

A close game became a 4-2 win for Medfield in a matter of minutes as the Warriors from the Tri-Valley league defeated the Warriors of the Hockomock League.

Foxboro finishes their season with a record of 11-5-3.

At times looking like a track meet, Medfield got on the board first on a Kristina Gustafson goal in the 18th minute.

Michelle Faye scored the equalizer in the 34th minute but Cami McCurdy only needed a touch and a shot inside the keeper’s box to give Medfield a 2-1 lead in the 37th minute.

With time ticking away in the first half, Paige Morgan went top shelf from 35 yards away to tie the game again in the 39th minute.

McCurdy would strike again in the 74th minute with a shot into the top corner that would win the game for Medfield. 

A penalty shot by Lauren Petit in the 75th minute locked up a two-goal win for Medfield.

Medfield will now face #1 Scituate on Nov. 5.
