MHS Boys' and Girls' Track Get By Holliston

The Medfield High School boys' track team improved to 3-1 Tuesday with a 71-65 victory Holliston, but it was far from a decisive win, according to Warriors' head coach Tom Woods.

"[Tuesday] was a tough meet," said Woods. "Holliston had some terrific athletes and we are coming off a vacation, which is always an obstacle as track is so much about routine and consistency. We were able to squeek by with a victory."

Woods noted several strong performances that proved to be the keys to victory. Senior captain Mike Creedon won the Mile in 4:41.4 followed closely by standout freshman Ian Robertson in 4:46.9. James Marvel-Coen had two fantastic races in both the 400m hurdles and the 110m hurdles running 59.5 and 15.9 respectively. Marvel-Coen won both of these races in commanding fashion. Our shot-putters were able to sweep with Luke Barett, Chris Triest and Ife Adebayo, finishing 1-2-3. Tim Bernard, a junior, was the winner in the high jump with a leap of 5'10".

Woods said the schedule doesn't get any easier with Westwood being the next opponent.

"We have a very strong opponent in Westwood this Thursday which will be a big test for us," Woods said. "I think our athletes are ready for the challenge and seeing how close this meet was will help them to kick it up a notch."
