Great American Backyard Campout at Rocky Woods

Saturday and Sunday June 25-26
The Great American Backyard Campout at Rocky Woods

Join The Trustees and REI for a night under the stars and discover the joy of camping with your family.  This event is perfect for first-timers or those simply looking to reconnect with the outdoors in a pleasant setting.  Campsites are a short walk (300 yards) from the parking lot.  Utility carts will be available to transport camping gear.

Take part in a group hike or choose to go off and explore Rocky Woods on your own.  Bring a fishing pole and fish in Chickering pond located next to your campsite. An optional cookout Saturday night will be provided and cooked community style.  If you have special dietary needs please plan on bringing your own food and snacks.  After dinner join a Trustees Ranger for an evening hike or share stories and songs around the campfire while roasting marshmallows.

REI outdoor school instructors will teach the several classes on Saturday including a class on essential camping skills as well as leave no trace camping.  A full list of events will be emailed to you when you register.

If you need to rent a tent for this event REI is providing half price rentals on all tents specifically for this event.  Simply go to your local REI store and ask for a tent rental for the Great American Campout.  Rain or shine (picnic shelter and cabin available for daytime shelter).

Space is limited and pre-registration is required.  508.785.0339 or charlesrivervalley@ttor.org
