Comfort Zone Grief Relief 5k / Family Day at Medfield High School

MEDFIELD, MA – Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. for walkers and runners to participate at the Medfield High School/Middle School, 88R South Street, Medfield, MA.

Funds raised will benefit Comfort Zone Camp. Participants and the community at large are invited to participate in family-friendly events, including a kid’s fun run, Touch A Truck, face painting, balloon animals, Child ID cards, music, food, raffles and silent auctions.

Raffle and silent auction items include a Gingerbread House, tickets (BC Hockey, Red Sox, Blue Man Group, Rockettes, Peter Pan, Ski Lift Tickets), an “old school” Bruins jersey, math tutoring, Nintendo, other computer software, iPod touch, Excel Laser Skin Clinique, Restaurant Gift Certificates, power drill and so much more.

Registration fees include $30 for adults, $20 for teens ages 13-17, and $15 for children ages 12 and under, and $5 for leashed (and friendly) dogs. Event registration includes entry into the 5k and event swag.

This Grief Relief 5k will raise support and awareness for Comfort Zone, a national nonprofit bereavement program for children and teens that have lost a parent, guardian or sibling. Camps are free of charge for campers and provide participants with a fun weekend of camp activities coupled with confidence-building programs and age based support groups to help break the emotional isolation grief often brings.

Comfort Zone Camp held their first camp in Massachusetts in 2009 and has since served 150 families and trained over 500 volunteers locally.
