American Legion: Medfield Hosts District's Best This Week

Beckwith Post 110 hosts District 6 West Division leader Walpole Tuesday and second-place Norwood Thursday in final week of regular season.

It is an important week of baseball for the Medfield Post 110 American Legion team.

Post 110 Beckwith currently sits in third place of the District 6 Massachusetts American Legion Baseball Standings behind first-place Walpole and second-place Norwood. Beckwith Post 110 hosts both teams this week in critical District 6 games as Medfield plays for postseason positioning.

Medfield enters Tuesday's game with a 10-4 record, good for 20 points in the division but sits four points behind Walpole (12-2) for the lead in the West. Thursday’s opponent, Norwood, sits a game back of Walpole with an 11-2 record, good for 22 points. Quincy 294 leads the District 6 East Division with an 11-2 record (22 points), a game ahead of Braintree (10-3-1, 21 points).

Medfield has a strong Warriors’ presence, led by : Mike Keleher, Jim Magrath, Will Cousins and T.J. Valente. Post 110 manager Robert Mintz says Vinny Palumbo, Nick Santangelo, James Sullivan and Gabe Mirabelli anchor this year’s squad as all are returning collegians.

After posting a 9-4 record in June, Medfield opened July with a 10-4 victory over Franklin on July 1 at Franklin High School. Medfield will host the District’s best in Walpole and Norwood before travelling to Foxborough on July 8. Beckwith Post 110 closes its regular season against Canton at on July 9 at noon. The District Playoffs begin on July 12.
