VIDEO: Medfield High School Music Students Impress at Winter Concert

The Medfield High School chorus, orchestra and band performed at its annual winter concert on Dec. 8 at the Lowell Mason Auditorium.

The Medfield High School Concert Choir, Orchestra and Band each performed at the Dec. 8 Winter Concert held in the Lowell Mason Auditorium.

The Concert Choir, directed by Margo Nothnagel and accompanied by Evan Berry, performed:

  • "Away From the Roll of the Sea" by Allister MacGillivray
  • "Music, Spread Thy Voice Around" by G.F. Handel, arranged by Linda Spevacek.
  • "Sakura" arranged by Carol L. Matthews.
  • "And So It Goes" by Billy Joel.
  • "Wade in the Water" spiritual, arranged by Roger Emerson.

The Concert Orchestra, directed by Sharon Woodworth, performed:

  • "Scottish Mist: by Bonnie Rideout, arranged by Bob Phillips.
  • "Modus a 4" by Shirl Jae Atwell.
  • "Symphony No. 15: Finale" by W.A. Mozart, arranged by Dackow.
  • "Acrobats" by Richard Meyer.

The Concert Band, directed by Doug Olsen, performed:

  • "Fairest of the Fair" by John Philip Sousa.
  • "Toccata" by Girolamo Frescobaldi.
  • "Africa: Ceremony, Song and Ritual: by Robert W. Smith.

Paul Wagenseller, Medfield High School Concert Band president and section leader of clarinet, expressed appreciation for the audience's support at the Dec. 8 show.

"Music is just really important to all of us and we thank you for your continuing and dedicated support," said Wagenseller.

Doug Olsen, Medfield High School Music Director, thanked those who support the school's music programs.

"I would like to say a huge thank you to the Medfield Music Association for your unending support to making Medfield music the special organization that it is with all the unique opportunities we give our students," Olsen said. "Especially thanks to Chris Potts and Colleen Mahoney, our co-chairs [of the Medfield Music Association]."

Next concert will be the Jazz Winterfest, which is Tuesday, Dec. 20. Admission is free and all the school’s jazz groups will be performing.
