VIDEO: Fourth Annual Golden Shoes Dance Competition at Medfield High School

Sophomores at Medfield High School participated in the fourth annual Golden Shoes Ballroom Dancing Competition Friday. First period won the competition and was awarded the 'Golden Shoes' plaque.

For the fourth consecutive year, Karen Renaud and the health and wellness program hosted the school's in the Medfield High School gymnasium.

The competition is part of curriculum for sophomores in the school's wellness program and new this year, a ballroom dance course that runs for an entire semester. Renaud brought ballroom dance into the curriculum at Medfield High School thanks to the support of the Medfield Colaition for Public Education through a grant received in 2010.

On Friday, seven classes of sophomores and the ballroom dance class filled the auditorium to compete in front of a panel of judges. Period one won the competition and will be immortalized on the plaque until next year's competition.
