Grads Thank Crossing Guard for Many Years of Service

Crossing guard Elisabeth Mann was a special guest at the graduation party of MHS senior Joseph Shebertes so he and his friends could say thank you.

When Joseph Shebertes was making the guest list for the party to celebrate his recent graduation from Medfield High School, he put a special woman right at the top -- Elisabeth Mann.

While not related to Shebertes, Mann has watched him and his friends grow up, and has watched over and protected them through the years as they walked to school.

Mann is the crossing guard at the intersection of South and Pound Streets on the way to the middle school and high school.

"I am very greatful to have a woman like Mrs. Mann in my life," said Shebertes, 18.

"She's the woman you see everyday at the cross walk with the biggest smile on her face and the quote she always says when my friends and I see her is 'Good morning, boys' or 'Hello, boys.'  We all wanted her and Mr. Mann at our parties because she always goes out of her way to put a smile on our face," he said.

Janice Shebertes said Mrs. Mann has created special memories for her son and his friends.

“All the kids from the Class of 2012 wanted to thank Mrs. Mann for always being there for them, watching them grow, and being a very special part of their lives,” Janice said.

The younger Shebertes said he will miss Mrs. Mann when he heads to Dean College in the fall but he will be back to visit the woman he will never forget.

"I loved seeing her every day and I can't wait to come home next year and see her," he said.
