New Superintendent: Marsden Accepts Medfield Offer

A contract has been negotiated with Dr. Jeffrey Marsden who will become Medfield's new Superintendent of Schools on July 1.

Last week, the Medfield School Committee unanimously chose Dr. Jeffrey Marsden as the district's new Superintendent effective July 1.

School Committee Vice Chairman Tim Bonfatti reported at the committee's meeting on Monday that a negotiations subcommittee worked with Marsden over the weekend and finalized a contract earlier that day.

"I am very pleased to report that we came to an agreement in principle on that contract," Bonfatti said.

"He is very excited about coming here. You can tell: He did a drive-around the schools with his family over the weekend [and] he's asking about some of the sporting events so I think he's really beginning to get quite engaged with the community which is so important," Bonfatti said.

Marsden is the current Superintendent of the Wrentham School District and will assume the helm once current Superintendent Bob Maguire retires on June 30.

Said Maguire, "I've reached out to him; we agreed that we'll begin setting aside some time to talk about how I can help him with his transition."

The School Committee hopes to have Marsden at its May 20 meeting to introduce him to the town.
