New Era of Leadership Underway at Medfield High School

Medfield High School principal Robert Parga said the transition from Blake to MHS has "gone very well."

Robert Parga’s experience in the Medfield School District made for an easy transition to principal of Medfield High School after spending four years as principal at Blake Middle School.

“The transition has gone very well,” Parga said. “We finished our hiring in June so the staff has been in place for a couple of months. Our mentors have been meeting with the new staff to better prepare them for the school year. I have two very experienced administrators, Katie Nunes and Jeff Sperling, who have been great to work with.”

School opened Wednesday and Parga said he was looking forward to seeing the students on the first day and that he is excited for a new academic year.

“This will be my fifth year as a principal in Medfield and each year begins with a sense of excitement,” Parga said.

Parga prepared over the summer for his first year at MHS by familiarizing himself with what the school offers students.

“Most of my work this summer has been focused on becoming more familiar with the many programs that we offer,” Parga said. “Because we finished our hiring early, it was relatively quiet in July. Things have certainly picked up over the past few weeks. Our fall sports started and I have enjoyed visiting with the coaches and student athletes.”

Parga said he met with “many teachers” over the summer to get familiar with their teaching tendencies and strategies.

“They have been very helpful and our conversations have been focused on teaching and learning,” Parga said. “They have a great sense of pride and want nothing more than to create an exciting and engaging classroom environment for their students.”

Parga said he will spend the majority of his first year at the high school reviewing its programs.

“I will be spending the year looking at all of our programs and determining how I as principal, can provide support and resources to the high school community,” Parga said.
