MHS Class of 2014 Graduation Speech: Alex Bugajski

The following speech, provided by Medfield High School, was written by Alex Bugajski and given at Medfield High School graduation on June 8, 2014.

Class Gifts

Good afternoon classmates, faculty, family, and friends. My name is Alex Bugajski, treasurer of the graduating class of 2014, and today I am honored to present on behalf of the graduating class a very special gift to Medfield High School. I’m excited to announce that a patio will be installed around the newly installed flagpole at the front of the school, along with several benches that are to be erected within the patio area. The patio area will serve as a place where students, faculty, parents, and townspeople can converse and celebrate Medfield High School for years to come.

This gift is to be dedicated to the late Mr. George Callahan, who sadly passed away this past year. Mr. Callahan was a beloved teacher, coach, and friend to many throughout the Medfield community. He taught mathematics for 36 years here at MHS and also served as the golf coach for Medfield for over 20 years, always finding a way to give back to the community.

This year’s class gift returns the favor by giving back to Mr. Callahan and celebrating all that he did for our schools and the town of Medfield, as will be indicated by a commemorative plaque that will be installed on the site. In addition to recognizing Mr. Callahan by name, the plaque will also include one of his favorite quotes, “The most important shot is the next one.” We hope that our class gift this year will be representative of Mr. Callahan’s legacy at MHS, and allow that legacy to live on within the Medfield community.

Thank you, and my utmost congratulations to the Class of 2014.
