Medfield Swim & Dive Team Takes Second in TVL Championship Meet

On Sunday, the Medfield High School Swimming and Diving team finished in second place at the TVL Championship meet! The team scores were Hopkinton 1091.5, Medfield 910, Dover-Sherborn 828.5, Ashland 585, Norton 511, and Holliston 351.

On Sunday, the Medfield High School Swimming and Diving team finished in second place at the TVL Championship meet!  The team scores were Hopkinton 1091.5, Medfield 910, Dover-Sherborn 828.5, Ashland 585, Norton 511, and Holliston 351.

The team of Freshman Olivia Tom, Sophomore Haley Dolan, Senior Jenn Alban,
and Senior Katie Nickerson started off the meet with a second place finish in the 200 Medley relay.  The team had a season best time of 2:02.93!

Junior Alec Haley finished in second place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.34.

Medfield won both the boys and girls 200 IM.  Alban won for the girls in 2:21.22. Senior Connor Haley won for the boys with a time of 2:03.00.

Alban also won the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:01.67.

Medfield swimmers also placed very high in the 500 freestyle.

Sophomore Natascha Borgstein placed second for the girls with a time of 5:47.92.
Alec Haley won for the boys with a season best time of 5:03.69.

The Medfield girls relay team of Natascha Borgstein, Senior Kira Stonkevitch, Nickerson and Dolan finished in third place in the 200 freestyle relay with a season best time of 1:49.79.

The boys 200 freestyle relay team also finished in third with a time of 1:36.15. This team was made up of Senior Peter Woodsum, Freshman Colton Hall, Senior Alex Carpino, and Senior Connor Haley.

Freshman Meredith Bertoni placed third in the 100 backstroke.  Her time of 1:05.91 was a season best.  Connor Haley won the 100 backstroke for the boys. His time was a 55:21 and was also a season best.

Haley Dolan finished in third in the 100 breaststroke.  Her time was 1:18.36.

Medfield did well in both the girls and boys 400 freestyle relays.  The girls team of Natascha Borgstein, Bertoni, Junior Sarah Mahoney, and Alban finished in third with a time of 4:06.08.  The boys team won the event in a time of 3:32.76.  The team was made up of Connor Haley, Carpino, Freshman Andrew Maritan, and Alec Haley.

Overall, the team performed very well at TVLs.  There were many personal best times and many swimmers and divers scored points by finishing in the top 16. Hopefully the team can keep up its success over the next two weeks at the Sectional and State meets!
