Medfield Swim & Dive Team Swimming at States

Girls competed on Saturday at Springfield College and boys competed on Sunday at Harvard.

On Saturday, Medfield Girls Swim & Dive Club at Springfield

On Saturday morning, Feb. 16, the Medfield Girls Swimming States qualifiers trekked to Springfield College to participate in the Division 2 State Championships. The girls team was made up of Captain Jenn Alban, Captain Katie Nickerson, Natascha Borgstein, Meredith Bertoni, Haley Dolan, Olivia Tom, and Sarah Mahoney.

The girls started off the meet with a season best time in the 200 medley relay. The team of Tom, Dolan, Alban and Nickerson finished in 13th place with a time of 2:01.23.

Medfield had two girls in the 200 freestyle.  Alban finished with a time of 2:05.33 and was in 17th place.  Borgstein finished in 2:10.76 in 33rd place.

In the 100 butterfly, Alban finished in 7th place with a time of 1:01.01. Bertoni also swam the event and finished in 19th place with a time of 1:04.34.

Dolan swam the 100 freestyle and finished with a season best time of 59.33 and placed 29th.

Borgstein finished the 500 in 27th place with a time of 5:48.96.

The 200 freestyle relay finished in 18th place with a time of 1:50.97. The team was made up of Borgstein, Mahoney, Nickerson and Dolan.

Medfield had two girls in the 100 backstroke.  Bertoni finished in 19th place with a personal best time of 1:04.96.  Tom also swam the event andfinished in 27th place with a time of 1:06.62.

To finish up the meet the girls swam in the 400 freestyle relay.  The team of Borgstein, Bertoni, Mahoney and Alban finished with a season best time of 4:01.84.

Overall, the team placed 22nd in the state!  Congratulations girls!

Sunday, Boys Swim & Dive Team at Harvard

On Sunday, the boys team swam at Harvard.  The boys team was made up of Captain Peter Woodsum, Connor Haley, Alex Carpino, Alec Haley, Colton Hall, and Andrew Maritan.

The 200 medley relay was the first event of the meet for the boys.  They finished in 23rd place with a time of 1:50.74.  The team was made up of Hall, Alec Haley, Maritan, and Woodsum.

Alec Haley swam the 200 freestyle; he finished in 19th place with a season best time of 1:53.18.

Connor Haley swam the 100 butterfly.  He finished in 3rd place with a season best time of 52.67.

Medfield had two boys in the 500 freestyle.  Connor Haley finished in 3rd place with a season best time of 4:43.45.  Alec Haley also did very well; he finished in 6th place with a season best time of 4:54.98.

Medfield finished in 13th place in the 200 freestyle relay.  Their time was a season best time of 1:34.96.  The team was made up of Woodsum, Hall, Carpino, and Connor Haley.  Woodsum also led off the relay with a personal best time of 23.70!

Lastly, the boys finished up with the 400 freestyle relay.  The team finished with a season best time of 3:31.09 and 10th place!  The team was made up of Connor Haley, Alex Carpino, Andrew Maritan, and Alec Haley.

The boys team finished in 12 place overall!  Congratulations boys!
