Storm Center: Final Report

A look at how the snow of March 7 and 8 affected Medfield.

 

This week's snowstorm racked up approximately 20 inches of snow in Medfield, numerous power outages, tree limbs down, a few downed wires, some slippery roads, and the cancellation of many activities.

Medfield High School's opening night of "Seussical, the Musical" was postponed due to weather. The school has added another performance on Sunday, March 10 at 6 p.m. at which the tickets from Friday, March 8, will be honored.

The Park and Recreation Department's "Kids Night Out" was also cancelled (another one will be held on March 15), however, today their programs are back on schedule including the Kinder Basketball League which will play this morning at Memorial School. Their schedule is:

  • 9 a.m., Orange vs. Charcoal
  • 10 a.m., Royal Blue vs. Gold
  • 11 a.m., Kelly Green vs. Red

Friday, March 8

5:00 p.m. Final snowfall at Medfield Patch HQ is 20 inches. How much fell at your house? 

3:00 p.m. Medfield Police Chief advises residents to stay off roads unless absolutely necessary.

2:00 p.m. It's not an "official" reading but the Patch marker says 18 inches of snow have fallen in Medfield. Maybe we should remove the "let it snow" sign from the snow gauge. 

1:30 p.m. Due to weather, tonight's performance of "Seussical" has been postponed to Sunday, March 10 at 6 p.m. All tickets sold for the March 8 performance will be honored on March 10. 

1:00 p.m. NSTAR is reporting that power has been restored to all 4,797 Medfield customers except three -- are you one of the three? 

12:00 p.m. The Transfer Station is open today.

11:20 a.m. Patch's power is back. Is yours? 

11:10 a.m. Power outages reported in town. Medfield Patch is one of 391 NSTAR customers (8% in town) out of power

11 a.m. Kids Night Out is cancelled. The Park & Recreation Department is closed today, all programs are cancelled including tonight's Kids Night Out. Another will be held next Friday, March 15. 

10 a.m. Seussical may go forward. Check back for updates. Or sign up for Patch's "breaking news alerts" and we'll let you know as soon as we know. 

Medfield Schools are closed today, March 8, but the MHS Theatre Society is hoping it may still be able to perform this evening.

Reps say they the musical may still go forward and they are "hoping for the best."
