Medfield School Committee Recognizes Susan Cotter for 12 Years of Service

Cotter retiring after 12 years on the school committee; recognized at final meeting.

After serving as a member of the Medfield School Committee for 12 years, Susan Cotter attended her last meeting on March 21, as she will be retiring at the end of the month.

The Committee showed its appreciation for Cotter's hard work and years of service to the town and commitment to the public schools with a presentation by committee recording secretary Debbie Noschese and a plaque of appreciation and recognition.

"This is an important night for us and the members of the school committee because we are saying goodbye to Susan," said Committee chair Tim Bonfatti. "[Cotter is] really an exemplar of what community service is all about and it's a huge void we will have to fill. [She's] done such a great job. [She's] been a big part of our school committee for many years."

After Noschese's presentation to Cotter, the committee openly reflected on their time working with Cotter and the memories made along the way.

"Your passion is something I will take with me because it is all about the fairness and everybody getting what is equitable," said vice chair Susan Ruzzo. "I don't think people get that, maybe they never will, but you do. It's been a pleasure and I will miss you."

Superintendent of Schools Bob Maguire said on behalf of himself and the school administration and staff that he appreciated everything Cotter has done for Medfield Public Schools over the years and wished her and her family well in her "future horizons."

"We appreciated your perspective on things," Maguire said. "I could always count on you to really have thought through things thoroughly and express your ideas to me and cause me to think. I really appreciate everything you've done."

Cotter said she enjoyed the 12 years she spent on the committee and addressed the members of the committee individually, sharing why she enjoyed working with each member. To see the Committee's presentation to Cotter, watch the video above.
