Medfield Public Schools Closed Monday

October's Nor'Easter forces over 100 school closings across the state, including Medfield's Public Schools.

Saturday's winter storm that has left hundreds of thousands without power across the state, including over 50 percent of NSTAR customers in Medfield, has forced Bob Maguire, Superintendent of Schools, to cancel school in town for Monday, Oct. 31.

According to Fox 25's website, all Medfield Public Schools are cancelled Monday.

As of 10 p.m., NSTAR is reporting on its website that 2,119 of the utility's 4,772 Medfield customers are still without power (44 percent).

"All of NSTAR’s 3,000 employees, along with extra utility and tree crews, are fully engaged in the restoration effort and will work around the clock until all customers are restored," NSTAR said. "Crews from as far away as Michigan are on their way to assist. Heavy wet snow and strong winds, combined with a full fall tree canopy, combined to take down wires and cause widespread power outages. At this time, 87,000 NSTAR customers are without power."
