Medfield High's Student Council Bonds During Weekend Car Wash

Members of the Medfield High School Student Council raised money for its 2011-2012 school year with a car wash behind Town Hall Saturday.

The Student Council members were ready and willing to wash cars this past Saturday behind the , accepting donations as payment in an effort to raise money for the 2011-2012 school year.

Approximately 25 of the 40 Student Council members participated in the weekend car wash and "had a great time."

Student Council President, Rob Zappulla, along with board members, Chelsea Robertson (Vice President), MaryEllen Krah (Secretary) and Blake Brown (Historian), explained this fundraiser has been held every year since they have been at Medfield High School and this event was originally scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 28, but changed that.

Other Student Council board members are Ryan Maloney (Treasurer) and Evan Berry (Rep. to School Committee).

“Most people donate $10 to $20,” said Robertson.

There is no set price for a carwash and in past years, the student council has raised around $1,000.

Krah believes this event is important because it “brings the council together and you get to know each other early in the [school] year before more events are held.”

The funds raised by this event help support other Student Council activities and these dollars are necessary for fronting other fundraisers.

For instance, in the past, they have purchased beads and sunglasses as “give-aways” for the annual Valentine’s Day Dance. They also purchased lollipops as a thank you gift to anyone who donated to the 9/11 Red Cross collection they held this past Friday.

Zappulla added the council raised another $115 Friday night for the Red Cross collection at the .
