Medfield High School Seniors to 'Walk the Red Carpet' Friday

MHS seniors to participate in fashion show fundraiser for All Night Graduation Party. Show begins at 7 p.m. Friday in the high school auditorium. Tickets still available.

The theme of this year’s Senior Fashion Show is “The Red Carpet.”

The fashion show is the main fundraiser for the All Night Graduation Party and will take place on Friday, March 18 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at the door or in advance by e-mailing mhsfashionshow2011@yahoo.com

“We have an Awards Show theme,” said MHS Fashion Show Co-Chair Rose O’Reilly. “All the girls will be wearing fancy dresses … and the boys will be in tuxes.”

Jewelry will be provided by a local representative of Stella & Dot.

“We have close to 100 kids participating,” said O’Reilly, who is co-hosting the event with Kim Slachta.  “We have about 85 kids that are modeling, we have some senior students that are helping with the sound and lights, and we have two senior boys who are going to play the role of emcee, like Ryan Seacrest, on the Red Carpet.”

The event is fun for friends and families of the senior students in the fashion show, as well as the general public.

“All of the models’ families come, groups of their friends; and young kids who want to see the upperclassmen will attend,” said O’Reilly.  “It’s also appealing to groups of young girls; some girls come with their mother every year which is kind of a nice tradition and gives the girls something to look forward to.”

The money raised through admission and raffles helps pay for the All Night Graduation Party – when the top floor of the high school is transformed into a drug-free and alcohol-free festival of fun activities for the town’s out-going seniors. O’Reilly estimates 98 percent of the seniors usually attend the party.

“It’s an expensive event to put on,” said O’Reilly, who is chairing the 18th annual event with Kim Slachta.  “Last year we raised about $7,000 which paid for a good portion of the party.”

This year’s raffle items (tickets are $1 each) include items offered by Basil Restaurant, Crafts for a Cure, DePalma salon, Go Fresh, Gold’s Gym, Honeys, Jane Hackett, Kokoon, LaCoupe Unique, Lovell’s/Accents, Magic Nails, Malzone Baseball, McCues Training, Medfield Wine Shoppe, Royal Pizza and yoga/meditation instruction with Kim Petrucci.

Grand prize raffle items (tickets are $5 each or three for $10) include  $370 custom teeth whitening or custom-fitted mouth guard from Barbara Preussner, D.M.D., P.C. in Holliston; $150 toward senior portraits with Leslie Brown Photography in Medfield; and a $250 Medfield Gift Basket from .

“We have lots of prizes from local retailers and a big drawing at the end of the night,” said O’Reilly.
