Medfield High School Academic Year in Review: School Management and Leadership

This is part five of an 11-part series that takes an in-depth look at Medfield High School's 2010-2011 academic year; goals for 2011-12 academic year; new curriculum offered in the fall; a pilot program; student life and the transition to a new principal.

Editor's Note: Medfield Patch will take an individual look at each theme in Judy Noble’s end of year report at the high school and will also take an in-depth look at goals for the 2011-12 academic year, new curriculum being offered in the fall, an advisor-advisee pilot program taking place, student life and community involvement and the transition from Noble to Robert Parga as Medfield High School principal. This is part five of our 11-part Medfield High School series.

School Management and Leadership:

Judy Noble said the high school’s leadership team’s focus for the majority of the 2010-2011 school year was on the NEASC report that is expected to be completed and submitted this fall.

“Members of the high school staff began to answer the recommendations in the NEASC report that was received in 2009,” said Noble. “A special report was submitted in December and a two-year report will be submitted in the fall [2011].”

Noble said many of the recommendations that needed to be answered in the December report “revolved around reminding students about [Medfield’s] learning expectations and how they are tied to daily lessons.”

A subcommittee of site council also continued to look at the feasibility of having a formal advisor/advisee program at Medfield High School, which will be tested as a pilot program in the upcoming school year.

“Through professional development time, the faculty was educated about an advisor/advisee program at a neighboring school,” Noble said. “Curriculum development for the Medfield High School pilot will take place over the summer.”
