The Medfield Girls Varsity Basketball team opened up their 2012 - 2013
season in style on Friday night.

During the off-season, Medfield made an effort to create a much more challenging schedule.  As a result of that, Medfield kicked off their season by traveling to Providence to play LaSalle Academy.  LaSalle is the defending Rhode Island Division I champions and perennial powerhouse.

Medfield got off to a great start in the game, extending to a 13 point lead early in the first half.  But LaSalle battled back and cut that lead to 2 points by half-time (34 - 32).

After allowing LaSalle to tie the game on the first possession after half-time, Medfield used pressure defense and transition offense to pull away in the second half and come away with a 79 - 53 victory.
