Medfield Girls' Basketball Hosts Fontbonne Academy Tonight

Thanks to Mother Nature and her wintry wrath in January, the Medfield High School girls' basketball team plays tonight against Fontbonne Academy in a make-up game from Jan. 26.

The Warriors defeated Fontbonne, 45-31, on Dec. 20 for their third win of the season. Since then, Medfield has rattled off 12 straight victories and is closing in on the Tri-Valley League title. Tonight's game will not have any barring on the TVL standings but could be used as a final tuneup for Ashland on Friday. If the Warriors beat the Clockers, they will win their third straight TVL title outright.

Prediction: Medfield's only real concern in this game is beating itself. The Warriors have been focused game in and game out, playing for the TVL title all season and is finally at the brink of doing so. Medfield needs only one league win in four remaining games, and with a chance to win it Friday, it would be easy for the Warriors to overlook Fontbonne tonight. However, head coach Mark Nickerson has done a great job of keeping his team focused throughout the season, looking only at the game at hand and not ahead. Expect Nickerson to try out new plays, game plans, strategies and get his bench a lot of playing time. But also expect the Warriors to win by double digits. Medfield to win.
