Maguire: Medfield Public Schools Expected to Open Tuesday

Medfield Superintendent of Schools Bob Maguire told Medfield Patch Monday night if "nothing happens overnight, we intend to have school in session [Tuesday]."

Barring an unexpected change overnight, Medfield Public Schools will re-open for session Tuesday, according to Medfield Superintendent of Schools, Bob Maguire.

"If nothing changes overnight, we intend to have school in session [Tuesday]," Maguire said.

The main reason Medfield schools closed Monday was due to power outages in town.

"We had several schools without power [Monday] and assessment by safety officials was that the roads were not safely passable by buses," Maguire said.

Over the course of Monday, power was restored to all schools, according to Maguire, with the Ralph Wheelock School being the last to have power restored late Monday afternoon.

After power was restored, the next issue for Maguire and his administrative staff was to see if transportation could be provided to students.

"We had bus company drive each route today and reviewed all issues at [Monday's] afternoon meeting with towns safety officials," Maguire said. "Based on follow-up actions we now have one section on Nebo Street that remains not safe for passing. We have notified each family in that area late [Monday] with a hand delivered notice and rerouted the bus in that section."
